Outdoor 2020 - Fall Program

Alberta Health has just released the Guidance for Organized Outdoor Sport. Physical Activity and Recreation. Alberta Soccer Association has submitted their Return to Play Protocol to the Government of Alberta and this plan is has been approved by Alberta Health.

Please note that ASA has a 3-phase approach to Return to Play. The first phase aligns to the current Alberta Health guidelines which allows non-contact outdoor activities organized by a responsible person or entity where 2-metre physical distancing is possible within the limit for size of gatherings (50 persons in an outdoor setting). Normal resumption of activities where physical and close contact among participants is not permitted at this stage.

CWSC has reviewed all guidelines and has developed our CWSC Return to Play Plan - Phase 1 which goes above and beyond these guidelines to provide a safe environment for our players to “return to play”. This document has been sent to you and we ask that you review it carefully. We must  also complete a successful completion of the ASA Return-To-Play checklist and ASA guideline training for all CWSC Staff.

We have been fortunate to have the expertise of Dr. Chris Sarin to review our CWSC Return to Play Plan - Phase 1 and 2. Dr. Sarin is a Public Health Physician, Medical Officer of Health, Alberta Health Services, Deputy Medical Officer of Health for Indigenous Services Canada,  and Medical Officer of Health in Alberta and Clinical Assistant Professor, Community Health Sciences, University of Calgary. He is on the committee to develop the Alberta Health Services COVID 19 Guidelines.

As you review our CWSC Return to Play Plan - Phase 1 and 2 you will be comforted with our alignment to public health guidelines and the support that we will provide to you, our members as you grapple with your decision to re-engage in a sport that your children love, but one which poses some health risks. We want to be up front and honest; there is no way around the fact that until a vaccine is available, the game of soccer will not be the same as before. However, we know that we can work together to mitigate the risks and provide a safe, enjoyable environment for your children to enjoy soccer in the interim.

We anticipate that the training protocol will be modified as the summer progresses, based on guidance from ASA and the health authorities, and feedback from parents, players, and coaches. CWSC will ensure our protocols meet or exceed the available guidance. Alberta Health may allow some form of modified game situation training, and we will adapt to advance our training in line with those guidelines. If CMSA is allowed to form game/league competition, additional fees may apply and participation will be optional.

Registrations will be open August 17 2020.

Schedule: Please note that we have moved the start times up to 5:30 and 7:00 for now. We may move the 7:00 start time up to 6:45 pm as well. An email will be sent out in this case.
