Outdoor Soccer Registration Open - late registration in effect

Some age groups are full/waitlisted, and others are close to being full. Status as of Thursday morning is:

INTER-COMMUNITY:

U8 Mixed - 1 spot
U10 Boys - 3 spots
U10 Girls - 3 spots
U12 Boys - closed
U12 Girls - closed
U14 Boys - closed
U14 Girls - 5 spots
U16/18 Mixed - closed

CMSA COMPETITIVE:

U8 Boys - closed
U8 Girls - 1 spot has just opened up
U10 Boys - 7 spots
U10 Girls - 4 spots
U12 Boys - waitlist - may open up another team
U12 Girls - 1 spot
U14 Boys - waitlist - may open up another team
U14 Girls - closed
U16 Boys - closed except for Real Madrid players
U16 Girls - 3 spots
U18 Boys - 2 spots

In some cases not all registrations are paid for, and thus spots may open up. In others, we don't quite have enough to add another team, but will do so if we get enough players on the waiting list. To be added to a waitlist, please email admin@calgarywestsoccer.com with the particulars.

For the spring/summer season, we will once again be offering competitive/development CMSA soccer for U8 to U18, recreational Inter-Community House League soccer for U10 to U18 (born 1992-2001), and our Super U8 league for the U8s (2002-2003) who want to play the 7v7 format. We will also be offering registration for the new CMSA U8 4v4 Spring and Summer Leagues. Please download the CMSA flyer on the U8 4v4 League - Page 1 and Page 2. Also new this year, CMSA is offering a U10 Summer League. Players must be registered in the Spring league to be able to register for the Summer league.

Coaching Development Courses

CMSA is hosting a number of Child/Youth/Senior NCCP coaching courses. Please see the list of coaching courses available through CMSA for spring 2010. Coaches are asked to register, pay up front and then submit receipts to CWSC for reimbursement. Please see our Coaching Development page for more details on the NCCP coaching certification program.

HL and ICHL Coach Development for all CWSC Partner Communities sessions are now open for online signup. Please go to our Coach Development page to access information and sign up instructions.

CWSC will also be hosting BFUT Level 4 and 3 coach courses April 15-17 (Level 3) and April 18-23 (Level 4). See our Coach Development page for more details to be posted soon.

New CWSC Men's Master's Team

Calgary West Soccer Club’s newly formed men’s Masters team is seeking additional players for its inaugural outdoor season, which will commence in May 2010.

We aim to be a competitive team and the existing core of players is looking for a few like-minded (enthusiastic, hard-working, skilled, experienced and dedicated) players to join us.

There is a team try-out session from 1-3pm on Saturday April 24, 2010 at Hawkwood School playing fields. Potential players identified at the try-out will be invited to further training sessions before final selection of a roster of around 18-20 players. Player registration fee will be around $250 for the 2010 outdoor season.

If you were born on (or before) January 1, 1975 and think you have the attributes we're seeking, register for the try-out by e-mailing mensmasters@calgarywestsoccer.com, including details of your preferred playing position, along with past soccer experience.

Try-out registrants will receive further information in due course.

CWSC Women's Academy

CWSC will be running the popular CWSC Women's Academy for Outdoor 2010. Please check our Women's Houseleague Soccer page for details and registration, opening soon.

Scenic Acres Women's Recreational Spring League

Our partner community, Scenic Acres, is once again offering a spring outdoor league for women of all skill levels, from beginner to seasoned. Registration starts February 15 - click here fore more details.

Calling all Referees - experienced and new!

With the start of the outdoor season coming up, Calgary West Soccer Club is actively recruiting referees. Calgary West Soccer Club welcomes back all referees from previous years and extends a special invite to those interested but new to being a referee. It's a great way for the older kids to learn more about the game and be a mentor to younger kids. CWSC will cover the cost of training for new referees and provide the referee jersey.

Monetary incentives are being continued in our referee program. We will host the refresher courses for people who have taken the referee training course before. Referees must be 12 years of age at the time of the ICL referee training course and 14 years of age for the CMSA referee training course. It’s a great way to make a little extra cash while taking in nice summer evenings out on the soccer field.

Calgary West Soccer Club wishes to announce its success in being awarded a General Motors: Making Dreams Possible Coaching Grant of $2000.

Calgary West Soccer Club wishes to announce its success in being awarded a General Motors Making Dreams Possible Coaching Grant of $2000. CWSC will use these funds to pay for coaching development programs including the NCCP Child/Youth/Senior courses and the BFUT Coaching Courses.

To Brasil and Beyond

On August 12, 2009, 19 Calgary West Soccer players ages 11 - 17, 6 coaches, chaperones and parents got on a plane to Brasil for what would turn out to be the experience of a lifetime! After 18 hours of traveling, the group arrived in Sao Paulo, Brasil at 9am on August 13^th every one of us bright-eyed and bushy-tailed – yah right! After we gathered our belongings we all anxiously made our way to our bus to travel to Louveira where we would spend the next 7 days training Brasilian style!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR TEAMS IN FALL CUP AND INTERCITY FINALS

We had a very successful outdoor season. Our club teams won eight (8) GOLD medals, nine (9) SILVER medals and two (2) BRONZE medals. That is an incredible achievement for a small and young club like ours. We should all feel very proud of our accomplishments.
